Regular Meeting April 2023

Our April meeting at the Frankfurter Hof took place as an evening meeting with partners. After the welcome by our president, the candidates for the executive board for the club year 2023/24 were presented. The election is scheduled for 10 May.

Six ladies were honoured for their club membership ranging from 25 to 50 years. Charlotte Weitbrecht thanked them and highlighted their services to our club.

Eight new members were introduced by 2nd Vice President Martina Altherr-Scriba and were welcomed with great joy and applause.

The adaptation of viticulture to climate change was the topic of our speaker Professor Dr. Manfred Stoll from the Geissenheim University of Applied Sciences. He enlightened us on the topic of what higher temperatures and extreme weather events mean for viticulture when he elaborated with examples of such interaction. With the words: "It is not for your pleasure. It is for your education", we were given two wines to taste that were vinified according to the new scientific findings.

In summary, an impressive, informative lecture ended with a fine dinner and we headed home in high spirits.
